Tehran, YJC. -- Iran’s Ambassador to Baku Mohsen Pakaein called three fields of trade, energy and transit as the important fields for cooperation between Iran and Azerbaijan Republic.
On the eve of President Ilham Aliyev visit to Iran, Pakaein, by referring to many historical, cultural and religious commonalities between the two countries said that Iran considers Azerbaijan Republic as an important country in the region and as a gate toward Caucasus.
He called Iran as a bridge between Azerbaijan Republic and countries in the Persian Gulf, Oman Sea, Turkey and Europe and said that with the completion of north-south corridor and Rasht- Astara railroad project, Azerbaijan Republic would be connected
to Iran’s railroad network.
The Iranian diplomat continued that the two countries can have bilateral cooperation in the Caspian Sea and Aras River, adding that the two countries have good capacities for implementing joint projects in the fields of energy, environment, electricity
and agriculture.
He also referred to importance of regional security issues and the problem of Karabakh, adding that fortunately Baku is aware of Tehran role and position in the region and has welcomed Iran’s active presence in settlement of the Karabakh dispute.
